Noank is located as a subdivision of Groton along the west side of the Mystic River, north of Long Island Sound. It is divided into two general areas known as Noank and Noank Village. The Village is a historic area with narrow homes, shipyards, waterfront properties and water views of Long Island and Fishers Island. Not as well known as Mystic, it has a similar feel of a small historic whaling and ship building town. The greater part of Noank has larger parcels of land and more modern and contemporary homes.
Noank real estate has a wide variety of options for prospective buyers. Its waterfront property is very limited in sandy beaches but it is great for docks and boating. There is a public town dock that residence can use to swim in the river. Esker Beach has Volley Ball and free beach concerts. Large lots and new developments are still available along with historic homes that have been or need remodeling. Most of the waterfront property has already been developed so building new homes would be limited. Rentals are sometimes avaiable but There are very few condominiums in Noank and zoning can be very strict.

There are not a lot of different condo complexes in Noank, so be very clear as what you want. If none are available i will need to look in some of the surrounding towns. Do you have any pets? What kind and their sizes? Are you a smoker? What style are you looking for, Ranch, Townhouse, Colonial, Converted building, etc. Be careful when you ask for a new building in south east CT because some very nice condos have been made out of historic buildings. They may be only a few years old, but the age will still say their original building date.
Noankās commercial interests are mostly known for its lobster boats and marinas. Historically it has always been a boating village and continues its heritage today. There is a small amount of Retail space and office space available for lease but it is very limited because of strict zoning rules. Historic Noank Village has lots of local traffic but less tourist traffic then some of the other better known villages.
There are a number of popular restaurants in town and it can be a great place to start a new one. Current owners usually will not publicly list their restaurant for sale because it will hurt their business. Let us know if this is something you are looking for and we will find one for you.
